Bringing out brand personality to put the spotlight on NORTHERN BL°C
Northern Bloc are an ice cream company in Leeds creating plant-based products for retailers, theatres and the food service industry.
With a contemporary black packaging design, strong ethics and cult brand appeal, the company had built a loyal fanbase within the northern indie food scene. To take the company further, Northern Bloc needed to resonate with a new, much broader audience and stand out on the shelf in supermarkets across the country.
We helped the brand reconnect with some of the more playful aspects of their origin story (including a 1970s ice cream van) and brought brightness and colour to the forefront of their design. With research showing the appeal of flavour over brand name to consumers, we made the product’s key ingredients the spatial focus of the packaging — helping Northern Bloc appeal to more customers and increase their sales.

“It was brilliant working with MYKYND on NORTHERN BL°C’s rebrand. They were easy to share and discuss ideas with and felt like an extension of our team throughout. The process felt collaborative and I think that the end result, which really captures our story, reflects that.”
